[glow=white,2,300] Hum, Dr Who's time machine lol
Well Andy... how to explain this...
Your starting to do 2D Designs... 3D Designs is still far away in my opinion (since you'v never done any before).
I'd suggest you to learn how to model first!
Look on MiniNova for
--> SoftImage XSI
And then use your PhotoShop skills to create the textures and VoilĂ lol -_- [/glow]

Only problem is, XSI is one of the hardest programs to use. Your better off searching for either 3ds Max or even better, Gmax !! Gmax is free anyhow and a good basic program to start with.

hmm well iv been making a sword recently >.> on 3ds max i like it alot but as for putting models into jk3 from gmax or 3dsmax you have to do some work. As for learning modeling itself you can try to follow tutorials...thats probley the easiest way to learn. btw my sword you see there...thats the blade support soon the blade will be on there iv done this in a few days btw ^^

Basic design but nice overall. I don't have it that much on swords. I have been busy with a couple of models myself. Wich include a saberhilt and a personall player model.

[glow=white,2,300] She's right! Andy, you should download 3DMax instead. Its alot easier than XSI. I proposed you XSI because its the one I learned lol... + 3DMax is easier for using with MilkShape (I don't know, but there's something... milky I like in the name MilkShape Maybe because its very close to MilkShake I dunno ).
