Chapter V
“Why aren’t we getting outta here?” Bradley said.
“Well….ermm… I made a error when I tried to repair this thing…. Um….. I need 10 minutes….” Andy said.
“We don’t have that long!” Tarnit said, “The Bombard has already begun attacking the city from space….we only have like 5 minutes till it will level every thing in this area!”
“Don’t worry,” Andy said calmly just give me a hand. Andy, followed by Tarnit, walked out of the shuttle and started working on the ship.
“ Two minutes till we all die !” Mando screamed at Andy and Tarnit.
They finished.
“Lets get outta here!” said Tarnit. Suddenly a random fighter shot the lambda shuttle. Tarnit noticed one of the bounty hunters they had encountered piloting it.
“This thing is garbage.” Andy said, “we need cover….NOW!” The small ban of Imperials ran toward a cave. Right as the last person made it in the cave laser pounded the area. The bombardment stopped.
“Every all right?” Bradley asked.
“yes sir.” Said John. The small group walked out of the cave.
“Andy,” Tarnit said “do you have a comm. Link?”
“no.” Andy replied.
“I bet the Bombard didn’t kill things that small lets search the remains of the city for a comm.” Mando put in.
The group fanned out .
Tarnit was tired after 3 hours of searching for a comlink in the rubble of the city and the group was a bout to give up and try and find a transport out of this place.
“Alright, according to this data pad I found,” Andy said, “There is another city 2 miles to the east of here…. But it will be dark soon so we have to move fast.
“Okay every 1 lets start walking.”
**************************************************************************
The group had finally reached civilization and it was dark out. They headed to the city hall.
“I am Sgt. Bradley of the Empire and we are going to need to use a comm. System. Please let us use it or we will use force.” Bradley said.
“Oh of course. This way” A guard said.
They reached a comm. System and Andy sat down.
“This is Lt. Andrew. Bombard do you read?”
“Lt. Andrew this is the Bombard we thought you guys were goners.” A voice sounded threw the comm. System, “ We will send down a shuttle to pick you guys up. It will land………. Um back by the ruined city. But there’s a catch, if your not there in a hour and a half it will leave without you.”
“Copy that, we’ll see you in an hour and a half.” Andy said then put the comlink down, “ I recommend we start out now.”
Tarnit couldn’t believe that they were jogging the whole way… not that he wasn’t in shape…. It had finally had a cured to Tarnit that he loved what he did too much... way to much. He hardly minded that Slaishur wasn’t there with them any more, but part of that he believed was just the rush, the excitement and the shock…..
Tarnit heard blaster noises ahead of him. Bradley signaled every one to get down. Every moved closer to Bradley, “ I have spotted Rebel solders in the shuttle. We need a plan… and it needs to be good.”
“How bout… never mind I forgot we can’t blow the shuttle up….” Tarnit said.
“Hmmmm,” Mando thought, “ I have an idea.”
Tarnit thought Mando’s idea was idiotic. Tarnit would most likely die. But it would work…. He hoped.
Tarnit heard Mando’s signal as he pulled out his blaster and jumped right in front of the rebel solders. “Hello there.” Tarnit almost said mockingly and fired to shots into a guards chest. He fired at another guard and started to back off. He spotted 7 more guards in the shuttle. He started to run away and noticed 2 rebels followed were following him. Tarnit whistled 5 times to signal the remaining rebels. Every thing is going to plan. Tarnit thought as he shot another guard in the head.
Cpl John heard Tarnit’s whistling and zoomed his sniper sight in on his prey. He fired and a rebel slowly disintegrated. The rebels tried to find cover. He fired again taking out another rebel. He couldn’t see any others.
He whistled 3 times to signal again how many were still alive.
Sgt Bradley and Pvt Jason moved up to either sides of the ramp into the shuttle. Bradley signaled for Jason to move in. Jason came around onto the loading ramp followed closely by Bradley. Jason shot a rebel and Bradley fired over his shoulder and another 1 fell. The last rebel shot Jason in the chest and Jason fell on his back. Bradley fired and took out the last rebel. “All Clear,” he said, “But Jason is down!”
Every 1 moved into the shuttle as Andy crouched by Jason. “You alright?”
Jason groaned, “I.. I guess I could live but 1 of the shots pierced the armor.”
“Ill see what I can do.” Andy said as he removed Jason chest armor.
He applied bacta to the wound, “feel better?” Andy asked.
“Ya.” Jason said as he stood up and sat in a seat.
“How much time we have left Mando?”
“T minus 15 minutes… wait a minute where is Tarnit?!” Mando said frantically looking around.
Tarnit slowly stored up merely laughing, “boy you would think they could do better then that.”
Andy flew the shuttle toward the bombard.
Chapter V1
Tarnit stepped out of the imperial shuttle onto the hot Tatooine surface. It had been a year since he was last here and now a proud Lt. of the imperial space forces. He was going to be positioned on the new space station…the Death Star. The Imperials were giving him time off before being placed on his new assignment.
He walked to a small store and rented a speeder and started off to his homestead. Its probably completely clean from Sand People by now. Thought Tarnit as he first caught sight of the homestead. Wait…I see some 1. Tarnit stopped the speeder and hopped off. It was a small group of people from the looks of it but he couldn’t tell from this far away. If they are hostile they would see my speeder coming much easier then if I walk the rest of the way. Tarnit thought.
He slowly made his approach to his homestead. As he got closer the figures got more vivid, he saw a wookie and a couple other men, one , who looked like the leader, wearing red armor. Tarnit hid behind a moister vaporator as he got deathly close to the men. He drew his blaster and made his slow approach to the back of the small homestead. He listened into the small conversations going on around the homestead.
“Taradry, Move these crates for me.” A voice sounded.
A wookie growled in content.
Tarnit slowly moved up around the homestead, blaster at the ready.
Tarnit glanced around the last turn seeing four men, three humans with blasters, and a wookie with what looked like a rocket launcher.
Tarnit then suddenly jumped around the corner grabbing a man by the neck and holding his blaster to his head. “No one move, or he gets it!” Tarnit yelled.
“Ah,” said the man who appeared to be the leader, “an Imperial has come to play.” He walked closer to Tarnit, “Let him go or I might have to hurt you.”
“I think you’re in no place to be calling the deals now I have a question.”
“Ha! At any time I could take you out but sure ask away.” The leader said.
“Why in the stanging world are you on my home stead!” Tarnit shouted while firing a shot into the neck of the person he held. He immediately fired upon the others.
“You’ll pay for that!” the leader said while pulling out his blaster and firing at Tarnit. Tarnit rolled as the wookie growled and fired a shot from the rocket launcher. It missed him but it sent him flying. He quickly recovered, smiled and threw a thermal detonator at the small ban of mercenaries.
“Run you fools!” the leader scowled as he jumped on his swoop and drove off. The others quickly followed.
Tarnit grinned as he picked up his false thermal detonator. Works every time, Tarnit thought as he entered his home stead.
Tarnit gasped when he saw the inside of his homestead. Everything was a huge mess, things thrown around and a lot of stuff just plain gone.
Tarnit walked into his room while dodging trash and broken items.
He grimaced when he noticed his blaster rifle was gone as well. He made his way into his mother’s room. Only one thing remained, a large box that was most likely under her bed. He noticed that it was welded down and securely locked. How am I going to get in there. Tarnit looked more closely at the crate seeing some writing. It was difficult to deceiver but he made out the words:
Do not fret my son for the answer lays in your voice and in your heart.
Tarnit immediately knew how to open the crate. He stood over it and sang a lullaby that his mother used to sing to him. The crate flung open and a hologram of his mother appeared.
“Tarnit, do not worry. You can survive without me.” The hologram said as tears began to fill up Tarnit’s eyes. “I did not want it to come to this but, I went on a mission and the imperials saw me. They will be coming in the hour. Son, you may not have known this but I am a Jedi.” Tarnit was confused now he knew what Jedi were and he never thought his poor sweet mother could be one. “This is my lightsaber,” the hologram said while the saber popped up out of the box. “You are force sensitive but are not trained. So I want you to find a Jedi Master named Slash, and give him my saber. Also if you please you may try and locate my other Jedi friends. One, almost like a mentor, is Themis. Another, who is just a good friend, is Furis. Finally this is one of the most important parts, you must fight the Empire, they are evil. When you find Slash’s temple that will most likely be your save haven. Oh and there is a Jedi training holocron from the ancient times at the bottom of this box, give that to master Slash as well. Most importantly, You have a Father, Dan’t, and a Brother, Bushka. Even though I doubt they’re alive, you should try and piece together this shattered family. I love you my son. May the force be with you.” The hologram faded away. Tarnit was crying now. He had to find Slash, Themis, and Furis. But first he had to find his family. He walked out wiping the tears form his eyes.
He now had a mission.
Chapter V11
Tarnit was in turmoil. What was he going to do about the empire. He was a Lt. of the Imperial Space Navy and now his mother wanted him to walk away. Its not like he didn’t want to, but he had several good friends and he was scared of the consequences if the Empire ended up tracking him down.
He had been on Correllia for two weeks now trying to find Slash’s jedi temple. On his belt was his mothers lightsaber. He got many hopeful and evil looks. Also on his back he carried a big carry box with the holocron.
He loved Correllia. It was so beautiful and rather peaceful since it was a neutral world.
He walked past a big building. Its pillars were five times as big as Tarnit wide and at least sixteen times high. He noticed it said ‘hotel’ and he walked in. He walked to the front desk which had credits scattered over the table.
“May I help you sir?” The Women behind the desk said cheerfully.
“Yes,” He replied, “I need a room for three days, maybe more.”
The women typed the keyboard on there main network computer. “Ah yes I have 3 available rooms. Do you want a suite Mister … Oh Yes I forgot to ask for your name.”
Tarnit froze. He needed a alias and fast. “ Ahhhhhtrazi Coliatchi.”
“Alright Mr. Coliatchi that will be 600 credits for three nights.” He handed her the money and quickly took the card and made his way to his room.
Tarnit sat in a chair and picked up his long range comm. System.
He quickly put in the action to call Mandalore, who was now a Lt. as well.
“Who is this?” Mandalore said gruffly.
“Mandalore, You need to leave the Empire.” Tarnit said reluctantly.
“Tarnit!” The fellow pilot said loudly, “Where are you?!”.
“I am on Correllia. Look, there is a lot to explain. Please take your leave time to come meet me. Bring Andy too if you can.” Tarnit then hung up.
He realized what a serious error he had just made. He hade just given his location to the empire. He knew Mando was his friend but he might just tell the Imperial officials that he is on Correllia!
His com buzzed. He answered.
“Yes.”
“I wont tell the officials. Just tell me where you are so Andy and I can meet you.”
“ I am at the Coronet hotel, The big one, it’s hard to miss.” Tarnit said.
“We’ll be there in two days.” Mando then hung up.
Tarnit took a sigh of relive when he new Mando was not lying, or so he hoped. So Tarnit waited.
Tarnit’s buzzer rang and he new that it was Mando and Andy immediately.
He walked slowly to the door and pressed the unlock button. The door shot open to find Mando and Andy.
“Tarnit!,” Mando said with enthusiasm, “sorry it took us so long. It’s amazing how big Coronet is.” Andy nodded.
“Come in, come in.” Tarnit said with a hand motion.
“Mind telling us what’s going on Tarnit?” Andy said in a almost accusing tone. Tarnit sat in a chair by a desk.
He took a deep breath before saying, “Okay, you know I went on leave before my transfer?” They both nodded, “Well I went to my home to find my mother… dead.”
Both of the imperial pilots looked shocked. “I’m sorry about that Tarnit.” Mando said sympathetically.
“No it’s not that,” Tarnit froze for a second thinking of what to say, “My mom was a jedi…” Mando and Andy looked at each other in disbelief, “She was murdered by the imperials.”
It was silent for five minutes.
“Why aren’t we getting outta here?” Bradley said.
“Well….ermm… I made a error when I tried to repair this thing…. Um….. I need 10 minutes….” Andy said.
