Prologue
Tarnit strode into the bustling cantina with a huge smile on his face.
Tarnit was a tall man at the age of 19. He had blond hair and deep blue eyes that looked grey. He dodged the crowds on his way to the bar, “Rod’esx Corellian Ale.” He said.
“Comin’ right up.” Replied the slim Rodian as he scurried into the back room.
Tarnit was so glad that he was accepted to join the Imperial Academy. With a sigh of relief, Tarnit slouched into his chair.
“Here ya go,” said the bartender. Tarnit slid credits across the bar. As he took a nice long swig out of it, his thoughts rested on his mother.
Thing is his mother didn’t really care for the empire much…. Tarnit thought that she was just getting old. He was going to follow the major power in the galaxy, and his first step on that path was the Imperial Academy.
Tarnit finished his ale and threw Rod’esx a tip. Time to head home. He thought and struggled his way out of the busy cantina.
Tarnit could see his homestead from a mile away. They were the only ones this far out from Bestine. He floored the speeder toward his destination.
Something’s wrong. Thought Tarnit as he made out the figures of two Imperial Storm troopers waiting outside his home. He hopped out of the speeder and tried to walk in the front door.
“Sorry citizen, this homestead is off limits!” squealed the storm trooper.
“First of all I am an imperial recruit, second this is MY HOMESTEAD!” Tarnit yelled. An Imperial officer came out of the homestead.
“I am sorry Mr. Taddler,” Tarnit stiffened in anticipation of the officers words. “ your mother is dead.”
These words rang through Tarnit’s head as he grabbed the imperial by the collar, “Who did this?” he asked.
The officer hesitated a moment. “The Rebellion scum killed her. Now,” The officer gazed deep into Tarnit’s eyes, “ let go.”
Tarnit released the officer, “The rebels must pay for what they have done. I am going strait toward the imperial academy,”
The officer offered only a teres reply. “Come along then.” Tarnit simply nodded his thanks as he was led to the Imperial’s shuttle.
Chapter 1
The loud alarm clock rang in Tarnit’s ear as he slammed down on the ‘off’ button. Tarnit rested on his bed. It had been 6 long days since he got to the Imperial academy and he had just qualified for the Tie fighter training simulators. He had 2 hours to get ready for the sims and was thankful that that was his only training for the day. He sat up on his bed and rubbed his eyes. His room was very modest. It included a small bathroom, a closet tucked in the corner, a very small footlocker for personal belongings, and of course a bunk. He walked to his closet and grabbed a fresh uniform. As he slipped it on he prepared his mind for the day. When he was ready he started toward the sim room.
He sat down on the counsel and logged on.
“Welcome ,Tarnit, to the tie fighter training sim. Please follow the on-screen instructions,” sounded a droid’s voice.
“Thank you.” Tarnit whispered
A virtual tie hangar appeared and information covered the screen. He selected the Tie fighter and the cockpit appeared around him.
The tie burst out of the hangar and a Commanding officer’s voices said, “ok Tarnit, foryour first run your flying my wing, copy?” said the c-o
“copy,” replied Tarnit.
The C-O’s tie squealed past Tarnit’s. “SIR! Reading 3 x-wings coming in fast, 2 o-clock!” Tarnit yelped.
“just stay on my-“ the C-O’s comm cut off and words scrolled on Tarnit’s H.U.D
‘Wing man down’ it read.
Tarnit maneuvered so he was heading straight toward the rebellion fighters. His sight kept telling him to pull up but something was telling him to stay his course.
Finally the lead x-wing pilot made a mistake…he fired. Tarnit evaded the blast and strafed the x-wings in a short burst.
“Mission Control, This is Tie 2, all enemy fighters are down, over.” words scrolled across the bottom of the screen again,
‘Mission complete. One fighter down in the name of the Empire.’ The droids voice came alive once more, ‘Please exit the simulator to your right for a quick debriefing.’
Tarnit exited the sim and headed for the debriefing room. He snapped to attention at the sight of the Captain, “Sir, reporting for debriefing, Sir!” Tarnit said like a droid. He also saw his C-O standing across the room glaring at him.
“Private, you shot down 3 x-wings. But your C-O was shot down. Why did you not cover him?” the Captain prodded
“Sir, it was not my fault that he was shot down. He never did say ‘cover me’and he failed to evade the laser shot, and , I did warn him about the fighters and then took them out as ordered, Sir.” Tarnit was stanging scared that he would be thrown out of the academy.
“”I like your thinking,” said the Captain, “You are a skilled pilot andyou’re going to be put to use real soon. As you may have noticed, the Incom T-65 X-wing star-fighter out guns, classes, and out does the Tie-fighter. You, have taken out 3 of them with ease. Stand bye for placement in a unit. Dismissed.”
Tarnit saluted and headed back to the sim. On the way he saw his C-O’s face. Oh how he loved the feeling of glory.
Tarnit awoke the next morning and ran towards his datapad to see if something had changed. It had.
He was to get dressed and pack all of his belongings; he was bound for the Victory-class Star Destroyer the Bombard.
He packed so fast and was in such a hurry to get out and make those rebels pay for what they had done. Suddenly there was a knock at his door, “Who is it?” He asked as he threw on some clothes.
“Lieutenant Slaishur, May I come in?”
“Yes come in.” Replied Tarnit, now being fully dressed. Slaishur walked into the small room.
“Tarnit, are you ready for the shuttle ride to the Bombard?” Slaishur asked
“I’m almost ready Sir. I don’t have much to pack any way.”
“Good when you are ready walk down to hangar 53 and you will be shuttled to the Bombard. It leaves in a half an hour, don’t be late.”
“Yes Sir!” Tarnit looked around the room with new found excitement. He continued packing as his mind rushed to the new possibilities of things to come.
Slaishur walked out.
Chapter 11
The shuttle trip to the Bombard seemed like it lasted forever. Tarnit couldn’t decide what was worse, the random power outages, or Lt. Slaishur’s drowning on about his live story. “I used to live on Coruscant...” Slaishur said, “it was way better then a stupid Star deytroyer.”
Tarnit felt like falling asleep but then he felt something so strong he could almost see it. Something was in the corner of that dreary shuttle. “I’ll be right back Lt., I….need something,” said Tarnit. Tarnit crept to the corner. He made out the figure of a teenage boy. Tarnit turned around fast to get help but when he glanced back the boy was gone. Tarnit sat back down almost terrified.
“Find what u needed?” asked Slaishur.
“Err… Ya.” Tarnit responded dumbly.
Time passed and Slaishur was beginning to stop talking. Tarnit was just about to dose off when he noticed Slaishur tearing up.
“Lt., what’s wrong?” asked Tarnit
“I was just thinking,” Slaishur said with tears starting to stream down his face, “of my daughter, Jyra.”
“What happened? If you don’t mind me asking,” Tarnit said.
“I guess not. Well when I left for the Empire my wife got killed and my daughter disappeared.” Slaishur started to sob. “ She was my… my… my best friend…”
“I’m sorry Lt.”
After 2 more hours the Bombard was in view. It was very big, not nearly as big as the Star Destroyers yet still big.
When they landed Tarnit found out he would be rooming with a guy named Andy Thuagit and in fact Lt. Lance Slaishur.
Andy was a veteran Lambda Shuttle pilot and Slaishur was a skilled Tie pilot.
Tarnit headed to his room with Slaishur still some what crying. When he entered he was surprised how big it was for only three people. They had a large bathroom, a very large closet, each had a good size foot locker for personal belongings, and 1 single bunk and 1 double bunk.
“Bigger then the rooms at the academy huh Lt.?” Asked Tarnit.
“Huh? Oh yah they are…?” the Lt. replied slowly.
They walked farther in and saw some one sitting at a desk. He turned toward them. “Hi, I am Andy….or Andrew whatever u would prefer.” Said Andy, “Make your selves at home. The single bunk is mine by the way.”
Tarnit couldn’t stand but feel the instant warmth of acceptance coming from Andy. Slaishur quickly walked to the bottom bunk and laid down. Tarnit threw his stuff up on the top bunk and then sat down by Andy. “So, how long have u been on the Bombard?” Tarnit asked.
“oh 2 years or so,” replied Andy.
“Cool. You fly a Lambda Shuttle, right?” Tarnit questioned.
“That’s right. But I don’t just fly nobles around. I am a special marine pilot. I fly them to there missions.” Andy replied in a gloating voice.
“Pretty cool,” Tarnit said, “Hey, Will we be flying missions together?”
“Yep” said Andy
“Good” Tarnit said then headed to his bed ready for his new adventures.
“Does anyone here me?” Said a loud voice over the comm, “ Anyone we are under attack! My squadron is down!”
“This is Lt. Slaishur, My wing man and I will assist coordinates?
“Um Section 567 -786 standing by.” Slaishur and Tarnit Pushed the fighters to the limits and quickly got to the battle where 1 tie fighter was being picked on by 2 x-wings.
Tarnit pulled ahead and easily shot one but its shields took the blow. “Tie-Fighter fall back we got this battle.” Tarnit Said commandingly.
“Never the destroyed my Squadron THEY WILL DIE!” Yelled the unidentified Tie-Fighter as it swung around and fired repeatedly in the back of a x-wing till it exploded. Slaishur quickly fired at the last confused x-wing till he saw the explosion.
“PHEW!” exclaimed Tarnit, “Close 1”
“Indeed,” Replied the Tie-Fighter, “By the way my name is Raphiel Pratiga, but my call name is Mandalore.”
“Roger That… um Mandalore we’ll take u back to base.” Slaishur said confused.
“All right, boy am I glad u showed up when u did. I would have a goner,” Mandalore explained. Slaishur led Mandalore and Tarnit back to the Bombard and reported to his superior what exactly had happened.
Surprisingly his superiors did not worry about it and assigned Raphiel Pratiga (Mandalore) to Andy’s wing like Slaishur and Tarnit would.
Mandalore moved a bunk into Andy’s room and got introduced with everyone. “Well hello there Raphiel, I am Andy Thuagit and please make your self at home,” Said Andy
Tarnit smiled at himself at the fact that Andy used the same statement to welcome Tarnit and Slaishur. “Hello Mandalore we met on the ambush remember?” Asked Tarnit.
“Uh, Yah I remember considering it was yesterday..” replied Mandalore. Mandalore unpack quite quickly and went to bed. Tarnit now could not wait to get on his first mission.
Chapter 111
Tarnit woke up with Andy’s head in his face. “Wake up Tarnit! Wake up!” Andy said loudly. “We have a mission we need to get ready!”
Tarnit just nodded but wasn’t really awake. He got dressed and started going to mess hall. “Tarnit! Where are u going!?” Andy said while pulling Tarnit back into the Dorm. “We have a gosh dang mission! Wake up!”
“Oh a mission!” Tarnit said just waking up “Oh ok ill get ready then”
The briefing was very simple. Andy needed to drop off a marine group on Fondor because of a Rebel up rising. Tarnit, Slaishur, and Mandalore were to escort Andy. It sounded to simple. When they were dismissed they were sent to the hangar.
“Ready for our first mission Slaishur?” Tarnit asked
“Yah, but remember Tarnit this time its real. No heroics.” Slaishur commanded. The Bombard launched into hyperspace.
When they finally were out of the hangar they were very close to the planet Fondor. “Ok guys pull ahead of me and scout for enemy fighters but don’t stray too far. You three must stay together.” Andy informed the fighter pilots.
“Roger that. Mando, Tarnit, On me,” Said Slaishur.
They formed a basic triangle formation and pulled ahead of the Lambda Shuttle. Tarnit’s radar showed clear but he knew that something was out there…
“Sir I have visual contact of 5 X-wing star fighters.” Mando told Slaishur.
“Roger that. Mando stay on my wing as we enter the atmosphere. Tarnit, try to get around the enemy fighters. Copy?” Slaishur comannded.
“Copy,” Mando Said.
“Copy,” Tarnit replied.
Slaishur and Mando were charging strait towards the enemy craft.
Slaishur open fired on a unsuspecting enemy craft. Mando joined in and the easily took down the lead craft. The 4 other enemies quickly regrouped and right when they were about to attack Tarnit came in their flank and opened fire until another enemy craft was down.
Suddenly Tarnit saw Slaishur’s Tie fighter plummet toward the ground. Tarnit realized that Mando was a higher ranking then Tarnit. “Mando your in charge now orders?” Tarnit asked.
“Get this imbecile off my six copy?” Mando Replied
“Copy,” Tarnit said as he turned around and strafed the enemy craft with fire till it pulled off.
“Aaaaaaagggggggggrrrrrhhhh!” Mando cried as another x-wing fired upon his fighter until it fell to the planets surface.
“Andy! Land that shuttle near the crashed tie fighters!” Tarnit managed to say.
“Roger that Tarnit,” Andy said as he quickly landed by the crashed fighters.
Tarnit was up against 3 x-wings by himself. He pulled up and did a flip around the damaged x-wing. He started firing at it but the other 2 fighters came strait at Tarnit, and both Tarnit, and the damaged x-wing fell to the planets surface.
Tarnit awoke to see Andy’s face again. “He’s Alive too!” cried Andy. Tarnit sat up to see a severely injured Mando and a dead body that looked like Slaishur.
Tarnit looked on himself as he noticed his wounds were some what healing them selves. He stood up, “Where is Slaishur!” Tarnit screamed being in shock after seeing the body, “Where is he!”
“Tarnit, calm down,” Andy said, “Just calm down.” Tarnit drifted to sleep again.
Tarnit heard screaming as he sat up in Andy’s Lambda Shuttle. The door opened and Marines Carried two Corpses into the shuttle. They laid them down and took off their helmets. Whispers filled the shuttle as the eyes of the Sergeant fell on Tarnit, “Can you shoot a gun?”
“Um, yes…” Tarnit replied. The Sergeant walked up to Tarnit and offered him a hand. Tarnit griped it and allowed the Sergeant to pull him up.
“I am Sergeant Bradley and welcome to my squad.” He said very monotone. “This is Corporal John, Private First Class Jason, and Private Sasuke.”
“Well hello there. I am Private Tarnit.” Tarnit said dumbly.
“Follow me and will get u suited up.” Cpl. John said. Tarnit quickly followed John. John grabbed a heavy imperial repeater gun from one of the dead bodies, and handed it to Tarnit.
“Um, Thanks.” Tarnit grabbed the gun. The squad, and Tarnit, walked into the distance towards a big town.
“Okay boys,” Bradley instructed, “ Last time we lost two men. That will not happen again. Jason, John,”
“Yes sir” Sounded Jason and John in unison.
Bradley continued, “Be ready with those sniper rifles. Sasuke,”
“Sir,” said Sasuke.
“Those thermal detonators are going to come in handy so be ready for my order. Tarnit……..Tarnit…Tarnit!”
“Oh Yes sir?” Tarnit said with his mind still wondering.
“Stay on me and watch out for those bounty hunters, Marines ON ME!” They slowly maneuvered up the main street. They reached an intersection and Bradley signaled to stop. The group stopped and John moved up with his sniper. John looked down the scope and in a second they all saw a dead body fall from 3 stories up.
They started to move again but this time into a building. They got into a lobby and 2 guards were there. The room was huge with furniture every where. The guards looked up and pulled the weapons to firing position. Before the could fire a shot Jason and Sasuke had sixty shells in each of them. “Men clear the building Sasuke with John, Jason and Tarnit your still on me. They split up and Bradley Tarnit and Jason walked up stairs. Tarnit suddenly felt something to his left he turned and saw a Bounty hunter hovering with his jet pack on and his weapon ready to shoot.
“Contact!” Tarnit screamed as he took cover. Laser bolts flew over the three sum. Bradley and Jason both slowly moved up signaling for Tarnit to stay put. They moved up and suddenly threw to sentry assault turrets into the room near the window. Another bounty hunter appeared and shot the two turrets. The bounty hunter out side the window broke threw and they both aimed there guns at the three sum.
Chapter IV
Swift-Ninja was getting tired of working with this other bounty hunter. Mainly because he was an android and a messed up one with a free will. But never the less the Bounty Hunter Guild had paired them up and he had to hold this city until the Rebellion arrived. That’s another thing that was wrong with this. The Rebels rarely hired from the Bounty Hunter Guild for a simple assignment like this…
BellX1, the android rushed into the room, “Swift! Imperial marines have enter the city and are entering our Head quarters!” BellX1 shouted in a mechanical voice.
“Well that’s just dandy ain’t it?” Swift rose from his perch on a building and put on his helmet. “Alright lets go.”
Now Swift was waiting outside a window with his jet pack on watching the marines. Just when Swift was about to fire one of the Marines shouted, “Contact!” yelled the one not dressed in armor. Swift fired his laser gun and broke the glass. Swift noticed the other to marines moving forward.
“Bell, move in now. Get those turrets.” Commanded Swift. BellX1 ran in to the room and easily took out the turrets. Bell aimed his weapon at them. Swift flew in and also pointed his weapon at the marines.
“Don’t Move!” Screamed Swift-Ninja, “Are you alone?”
“No we have 16 marine squads moving in on the city.” Sgt. Bradley said.
“We do?” said Tarnit.
“ok Tarnit just shut up from now on.” Jason said.
“Where is the rest of your squad?” BellX1 interrogated.
“Truthfully, there right behind you.” Said Bradley. The 2 bounty hunters quickly turned around to see two more marines and quickly retreated out the window.
“That was also close.” Said BellX1 after leaving the building.
“Yes that was,” Swift continued, “the Rebels will be here shortly well let them take care of it.
The Marines, now back together headed to the top of the building. After the encounter with the bounty hunters they weren’t going to take a chance. They reached the main control room.
“Hmmm,” Bradley looked confused, “The last message out of here was……Send reinforcements!”
“Sir I recommend we get the heck outta here.” John Said. The marines noticed a loud explosion from down stairs.
“Thermal detonators?” Jason commented.
“possibly,” Said Bradley, “but we need to get out of here and tell the General that there is nothing here of value and to blow this city to smithereens.”
The Marines headed back down stairs very carefully about mid way Tarnit saw a group of Rebels. “Contact,” He whispered.
Bradley took Tarnit and maneuvered around to the other side of the Rebels. Sasuke maneuvered to the back of them, and John and Jason moved to the front of them.
“Now!” Bradley said threw is comm.
John and Jason sprayed the enemies with machine gun fire while Bradley and Tarnit picked them off one by one. For some reason Sasuke was gone.
“Sasuke, report where are you?” Bradley said over the comm..
“Down the stairs there 50 of them ill hold them just get out of-“ Sasuke’s comm. Went dead.
The rest of the marines did not worry about Sasuke, he was a trained marine and they found another way out.
Sasuke was pinned down. He took a hit to the head but it nicked the side and he only lost his comm. He pulled out a thermal detonator and threw it into the middle of the Rebels. Over half of them died in the explosion because they were so packed together. Suddenly he saw the injured pilot Mandalore come up behind him with a rocket launcher. Mando Shot the rockets into the group of rebels until they retreated. He took cover with Sasuke.
“You alright?” Mando said.
“Yes but are-…” Sasuke got shot by a sniper shot. His body slowly disintegrated. Mando looked up. There were the two bounty hunters 1 with a sniper rifle the other began spraying Mando down with laser fire.
The rest of the marines charged down the stairs and covered Mando as he made his way up to them. As a group the ran out of the building.
They continued to run till they were out of the city. Andy was waiting for them already ready for take off.
The marines piled in.
Swift was now just annoyed. He once again was left alone with a annoying android and a couple Rebels. But he did get paid by one of them and he started walking out of the city. BellX1 caught up with him, “Big mission means we got big cash, eh Swift?”
“Yah, but I just wanna go back to the guild’s home and get some rest.”
Swift and BellX1 entered a ship and lifted off.
Tarnit strode into the bustling cantina with a huge smile on his face.
